Personal Success- can it happen to you?
June 26, 2008 3:48 pm create success, personal development, wealthTrying to succeed in life has it’s challenges. You are forced outside of you comfort zone and asked to d things you would never have thought of doing otherwise.
For me it’s a little like swallowing some bitter medicine sometimes. I’ll gulp it down, in the knowledge that taking it will have some results. And once I see the results I feel glad that I did it.
Striving to succeed with any thing new does sometimes leave you wondering if you are ever going to get the results you desire. Sometimes it feels as if things are moving along, and then you get stuck, or you just don’t see the results that you hoped for right away.
That is when it helps to look over your goals. Are they ambitious? Do you feel as though your life is so far from where you want to be that it would take a miracle to get there ?
If so i would like you to think about this:
Imagine a large cruise ship packed with vacationers going on holiday. The ship comes into a bay to drop them off for some sight seeing. After a few hours they re-board and the ship needs to turn around.
How long do you think it takes for the ship to make a complete 180 degree turn?
I can assure you it isn’t just a few minutes. The ship’s movement is almost impossible to detect, it’s that slow.
The thing is the captain knows they’ll make it, and the passengers have out their faith in the captain to get them to the next port. They know they’ll make it. In fact they are so sure that they are not even thinking about it, they are too busy with dinner to think much about anything else.
Your life is like the ship - your in one port yet you want to get to another one. So you will have to make that 180 degree turn.
You will not be able to turn on a dime like a little speed boat, but you will turn and you will get to the next port that you dream of.
Your best bet- take a lesson from the passengers and enjoy the ride, while holding on to the faith that you will get there.
